Berrak Taranç
Berrak Taranç was born in 1962. After graduating Çamlıca Kız Lisesi, she studied musicology at 9 Eylül University. After graduating in 1983 she did her master's degree and qualification in art. He later became lecturer (1984), Assistant Professor (1990), Associate Professor (2002), and Professor at Ege University Conservatory of Turkish Music. She continues her job as an academic.
She founded Voice of Izmir in 1996 and composed many pieces and wrote many lyrics for this group. She attended first and second editions of İki Denizin Yaratıcı Kadınları Festivali,Akdeniz, Kardeniz (organized by UNESCO) twice, in Thessaloniki. Her Winds of Rembetiko Klarnet Konçertosu (2002) was performed by İzmir State Symphony Orchestra in 2008. She composed many pieces for various short documentaries, feature films, kid’s movies, advertisements and theatre plays including “Babamı Arıyorum” (dir. Yılmaz Atadeniz), “İki Kadın” (dir. Yavuz Özkan) and “Yağmurlarda Yıkansam” (dir. Gülten Taranç). She wrote 8 books, 7 research papers, 60 articles and has 60 symposium participations. She won many awards in international workshops, installations and film soundtrack fields.
Taranç is also the first and only Turkish Honorary Lifetime Member of the Panhelon Koral Orkestralar Birliği.
