BİRSEN KAYA The Queen Of Adventure Movies Poster

Synopsis

Birsen Kaya is the second woman director after Bilge Olgaç in Turkish cinema. Birsen Kaya started her career as an assistant in Halit Reriğ's film "Gürbet Kuşları" in 1964, which was the brightest years of Yeşilçam. After working in 200 films as an assistant to many directors between 1964-1970, she directed the film "İntikam Derler Adıma" in 1970. These years were the difficult times of Yeşilçam cinema. The old splendor of our cinema was gone. This situation caused the face of cinema to change and genre films, especially avant-garde films, were in vogue. Birsen Kaya has written her name in the history of our cinema as a woman director who made films in the avant-garde genre in a male-dominated structure and in the world of men.
