Gulten Taranç was born in 1990 in Izmir. In 2008, she went to Mexico as an exchange student with the Rotary Exchange Program. She studied Spanish and Latin Dances at the Universidad de Quintana Roo. She graduated from Dokuz Eylül Fine Arts Faculty, Film Design & Directing Department, in 2013. She has founded the production company Taranc & Taranc Film in 2015. She completed her master's degree in Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cinema-TV in 2017. In 2016, she made her name known to a wider audience by receiving the 53rd Antalya Film Festival Renkaheng Selection Audience Award with her first debut film "Wish to Wash with Rain”. Her second feature movie, "Snails” achieved Meetings on the Bridge Award in 2021. Gülten Taranç has been the director of the "International Women Filmmakers Festival" based in İzmir since 2018 and she has been the president of Women Filmmakers Association which is founded in 2021. She is also a member of MESAM and WMC. Gülten Taranç deals with the problems of women in Turkey since 2010 by her cinematic perspective; furthermore she is a productive artist at music industry as a song writer & composer.
