Synopsis

Nesrin, an urban upper-middle class woman, goes back to her parents’ old village in Anatolia to finish a novel and live out her dream of being a writer. When her conservative mother turns up uninvited and refuses to leave, Nesrin’s writing stalls and her fantasies of village life turn bitter.

Senem Tüzen

Senem Tüzen, born in Ankara, wrote and directed the Turkish mother-daughter drama Ana Yurdu—her debut feature film—which was awarded the 2015 APSA for Best Screenplay and nominated by FIPRESCI for Best Film at the European Film Awards, among other accolades. Previously, her short film Unus Mundus was awarded Best Short by Turkey's association of film critics. She has also contributed to various film and television projects—including for Al Jazeera and Turkish State television—as a producer, editor and cinematographer.
