Aysim Türkmen

She is a film director and urban anthropologist. She graduated from Robert College and the Business Administration Department at Boğaziçi University. She earned a scholarship from New York University, where she completed her master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies. She also completed a film certificate program at The New School University. Her documentary films, focusing on cities and urban transformation, have competed in various festivals and received awards. In 2014, she directed and produced her first feature-length fiction film titled Çekmeköy Underground. Her feature-length documentary project Çeperdekiler was supported by the Ministry of Culture in 2020, and the film is currently in post-production. Her feature-length fiction project ARE YOU THERE? (PEEKABOO) was selected for the 2020 Istanbul Film Festival’s Meetings on the Bridge. She also organizes film development workshops titled Creating Film Characters from the City in various cities.
