Berrak Taranç

Berrak Taranç, born in İzmir in 1962, is a musicologist, composer, and professor at Ege University State Turkish Music Conservatory. She founded the “Voice of İzmir” ensemble in 1996 and composed original works performed at international festivals, including UNESCO’s “Creative Women of Two Seas.” Her clarinet concerto Winds of Rembetiko was performed by the State Symphony Orchestra in 2008. Taranç has composed music for numerous films, documentaries, theater productions, and commercials. She has published books, articles, and research, and was honored as the first and only Turkish lifetime member of the Panhellenic Choral Orchestras Association.
