Synopsis
The documentary “Just Like Before” follows children who lost limbs after the February 6, 2023 earthquake in Türkiye. It centers on Aliye and Yaren, whose friendship grows during their rehabilitation at Çukurova University’s Child Well-Being Center in Adana. Their journey to Hatay reflects both the rebuilding of cities and the healing power of hope, resilience, and solidarity.

Sibel Karakurt graduated from Ankara University in Political Science. She began her career in 2004 as a reporter for CNN Türk’s “32. Gün” and later worked as a writer and producer on documentaries such as “Beyoğlu 24” and “Spassibo İstanbul.” She contributed to international projects and directed for Al Jazeera. Her recent works focus on cultural heritage, with her latest film “Just Like Before” (2024).
